The reason your car pulls to the left is because you have a tire, balance, brake, or alignment issue. Your vehicle should never pull to either side. If it does, there’s something going on underneath. Heath’s Auto Service can isolate the problem and fix it for you, so bring your car in for an inspection.
Diagnostics Are Key
First things first. Until we can inspect your vehicle we can’t tell you for certain why it’s pulling to the left. As mentioned above, the pull could be caused by your tires or part of your undercarriage. The only way to isolate the pull is to give your vehicle the once-over to determine what’s going on exactly. The pull could also be caused by your brakes, so we’ll check those, too.
Tire Pressure
The least troublesome cause of a vehicle pulling to the left is tire pressure. If the tires on the left-hand side are underinflated, they may cause the vehicle to pull in that direction. Underinflated tires are dangerous for other reasons, too, so always make certain you check your tire pressure and refill them when necessary. It’s best to check the pressure every two gas-tank fills.
Alignment
Have you hit a curb or been in a fender-bender recently? Did you take your vehicle off-roading for fun even though it isn’t a 4-by-4? If you answered yes to either of these questions, you may have knocked your car out of alignment. This is one of the most common reasons a vehicle pulls to the left or the right, and it’s crucial to get it realigned before it damages your tires.
Balancing
Did you get your tires replaced and noticed your car started pulling to the left afterward? This could mean the tire shop didn’t balance the tires properly. Unbalanced tires can also cause the vehicle to pull to one side or the other, but don’t worry. This is an easy fix. As long as the tires haven’t been damaged by poor balancing, we can balance them in a jiffy.
Brakes
Finally, your brakes can cause your vehicle to pull to the left. Your calipers, which are an important part of the brake system, can get stuck, which will cause the vehicle to pull to the side of the stuck calipers. If you haven’t had your brakes inspected in some time, bring your vehicle in so we can ensure the calipers are operating as they should be.
