Is Your Car Prepared if You Get Stuck on the Side of the Road?

You might be surprised to hear that keeping food and water in your car is a good idea, but it truly is. Keeping food items in the car that you don’t have to cook, along with freshwater, helps to ensure that if you’re stuck somewhere for a few hours or longer, you at least have something with you. Dehydration happens quickly and it can lead to big health issues. Keep up with rotating out both food and water to keep them fresh.

Blankets

Especially during colder months of the year, it’s important to have blankets in the car. You can substitute in sleeping bags, too, if that’s what you have. Hand warmers, gloves, hats, and even a change or two of clothing might also be a good idea. It depends on what you have space to carry and what your individual needs are.

Some Tools

If you don’t already have a tool kit of some kind, it might be a good idea to put one in your car. It doesn’t have to be a big, complete tool kit, either. Just a few tools that might be helpful can be enough. What might matter more are things like a first aid kit, a jump pack, and a flashlight with extra batteries. Use common sense about what you end up keeping in the car with you.

Anything that Helps You Be Safe and Comfortable

Spend some time thinking about what else you might put in your car that can help you to be safer and more comfortable. If you get headaches often, then OTC painkillers like acetaminophen might need to be in your first aid kit. Whatever you keep with you, make sure that it’s secured in the car and not loose so that you don’t have to worry about it being all over the car.

One way to make sure that it’s even less likely that you’ll be stuck somewhere on the side of the road is to make sure your car is up to date with all recommended maintenance. Heath’s Auto Service at Scottsdale Airport, AZ can help. Contact us today to set up an appointment.
